The Orange County Bar announced that in January 2019, one of the family law judges currently sitting at the County’s main family law courthouse, Lamoreaux Justice Center in Orange, will move his entire caseload to the North Justice Center in Fullerton. This move is an effort to serve those parties who also live in the North Orange County communities of Anaheim Hills, Brea, La Habra, Placentia and Yorba Linda. These areas are 30-45 minutes away from Lamoreaux Justice Center during the morning rush hour on the 55 and 91 Freeways. Traffic delays have resulted in calls for more convenient courthouse locations for those who do not live in Central Orange County.

It is anticipated that residents of north Orange County who file new family law cases will report to North Justice Court for all of their family law matters. If the opening of a court in North Orange County serves the purpose of decreasing tardiness and continuances, more family law courtrooms may open in courthouses across Orange County.

North Justice Center is located at 1275 N. Berkley Avenue in Fullerton, off of Valley View and Harbor Streets. The courthouse sits approximately one mile north of historic Downtown Fullerton and across the street from the newly renovated Hillcrest Park. Parking should not be an issue here, as the court’s free parking lot can accommodate all of its visitors. Those with business at the court should keep in mind that North Justice Center functions as one of the busiest traffic courts in Orange County. Thus, arriving early to grab a parking spot close to the courthouse is advisable.
