Our Team


Esther received her Associates Degree in Arts (emphasis on Social Behavioral Sciences) from Palomar College. She completed the University of San Diego’s paralegal program with certification in a broad array of Law including Bankruptcy, Criminal, and Family Law.

Upon graduation in 2010, Esther worked at a Bankruptcy/Foreclosure Law Firm in San Diego before making the transition into Family Law.

Esther has assisted in a variety of cases including; Dissolutions, Paternity Matters, and Post Judgment Motions for Child Custody and Visitation, Child Support, and Spousal Support. She also has experience with various forms of discovery including; responding to and propounding form interrogatories, special interrogatories, and request for production of documents.

Esther whole heartedly enjoys helping our clients and works diligently to meet our clients’ needs.

Gina Gass, Paralegal

Gina Gass received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Minor in Spanish from the College of Saint Benedict located in St. Joseph, Minnesota. Upon graduation, Gina began working for the non-profit agency the Counsel of Crime and Justice in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she worked as a crime victim liaison. In this position, Gina assisted in upholding the rights of victims of domestic violence and other misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges. This is where Gina discovered her passion for the legal field.

In 2006, Gina relocated to San Diego, California and attended the University of San Diego where she earned her paralegal certificate and joined Wilkinson & Finkbeiner as a paralegal in 2007. Gina has successfully assisted the attorneys at Wilkinson & Finkbeiner through all stages of the family law process, including drafting and filing the initial paperwork, drafting motions, and settlement agreements, and assisting the attorneys in preparing for trial.
A few examples that stand out of Gina's experience with Wilkinson & Finkbeiner is when she assisted in preparing for a five (5) day divorce trial in which the client obtained a favorable outcome and assisted the attorneys in successfully defending a two (2) day move-away trial. Gina prides herself on her ability to produce excellent work product in a time efficient manner and strives to obtain satisfactory results for the clients of Wilkinson & Finkbeiner.

Serena Maxwell, Paralegal

Serena Maxwell graduated with honors from Montana State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English Literature. Serena was an intern at the United States Senate Finance Committee during her time at Montana State University. She relocated to San Diego in 2007 and attended the University of San Diego’s American Bar Association approved paralegal program.

Serena feels very strongly about having an open and professional relationship with her clients and works hard to achieve her clients’ goals and is always available to assist them with their various needs.

Erin Smith, Legal Assitant

Erin Smith graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. Erin began working at Wilkinson & Finkbeiner in July 2014 as a Legal Assistant where she is responsible for billing and administrative duties. She enjoys working with clients and learning about their cases.

Erin is currently going to Paralegal School at the University of San Diego and will be graduating in December 2015. She is looking forward to the opportunity to expand her knowledge of family law. Erin is eager to work with future clients and to help their case in any way she can.

Dollie Campos, Paralegal

Dollie graduated from Chapman University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. After graduating, she found her passion for the legal field and began working at Wilkinson & Finkbeiner as a file clerk, while beginning her legal education in the ABA-Approved Paralegal program at Santa Ana College. She will be graduating in December 2015.

Dollie has recently moved up in W&F and now works as a legal secretary and general office manager, responsible for billing and other administrative tasks. She is eager to expand her family law knowledge and help clients in any way possible.

Cheryl Clayton, Paralegal

Cheryl graduated with her ABA certified Paralegal Studies degree from Cerritos College and a BA in Criminal Justice from Cal State University, Fullerton. Cheryl was awarded the Soroptomist Award for her participation in helping serve disadvantaged families in the community. After graduating she worked as a legal secretary with a federal indigent attorney whose cases were out of the United States District Court. Cheryl learned to Shepardize cases and researched and summarized complex litigation issues. Cheryl discovered she loved to work in the legal field and began working in a Family Law firm.

Cheryl started working as a paralegal with the Orange County law offices of Wilkinson & Finkbeiner, LLP, in 2010 where she assists clients and attorneys throughout the legal process, oversees legal calendaring and handles the firm's website contacts. She has successfully assisted with all facets of the family law process including drafting and filing summons, petitions for dissolutions, domestic partnership and paternity, discovery, custody and support orders, motions, domestic violence restraining orders, termination of parental rights, settlement agreements, and assisting the attorney with trial preparation.

One of the most memorable experiences Cheryl has had while working for Wilkinson & Finkbeiner, LLP was preparing for a 3 day trial which had a favorable outcome after a 730 Evaluation, was found to be defective. In part the parties were able to achieve favorable visitation orders due to Cheryl’s ability to help produce excellent work product. Cheryl is enthusiastic about assisting her clients and feels strongly about having an open and professional relationship with the clients to achieve their goals.
